Master Classes in summer 2010

For singers and pianists:

Master Class for German Lied
June 18 – June 24

Teacher: Professor Hartmut Höll

The concert will be on the 24^th of June.

Course fee: 300 € (150 € per person)

For singers:

Master Class for Opera I

June 28 – July 10

Teachers: Kammersänger Tom Krause & director Eija Tolpo

Tom Krause concentrates on the voice and Eija Tolpo´s teaching focuses on expression and character building: "How do you take the empty space, how do you fill the empty stage?" How a singer learns to find his or her inner ideas and the truth when building a character.

The Opera Concert will be on the 10^th of July. It is organized in collaboration with the Savonlinna Opera Festival.

Course fee: 450 €

Master Class for Opera II

July 21

Teachers: Professor Barbara Bonney

Individual lessons 2 x 30 minutes (30 min no public and 30 min public)

Course fee: 200 €

For players:

Chamber music and string quartet master classes

July 14 – July 22

Teachers: members of Orpheus Quartet =

Mark Gothoni (violin, Universität der Künste Berlin),

Timothy Summers (violin, Charlottville, Berlin),

Emile Cantor (viola, Musikhochschule Essen) and

Laurentiu Sbarcea (cello, Musikhochschule Köln)

This year´s course includes possibility to work also with the world famous composer Aulis Sallinen on his string quartets. Mr. Sallinen will be 75 years old in 2010 and he has kindly accepted the invitation to come to Savonlinna for a few days to listen to his works.

Students can apply as individuals or as groups.

Chamber groups including one teacher will be formed at the course and major works performed in concert.

Individual lessons minimum 4 x 60 minutes (quartets 4 x 120 minutes) and concert appearance.

Course fee:

150 € per person (quartets and chamber music)

+ 100 € for individual lessons

Only individual lessons: 200 €
